Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, better known as Le Corbusier or simply Corbu, is arguably the most important architect of the modern age. The Swiss-born French architect and painter was to architecture what Picasso was to painting, a towering and egomaniacal savant who transformed the world. His groundbreaking buildings have inspired admiration and sometimes devotion, and he has also become the target of vigorous attack. These concrete masterpieces of creative genius also attest to the internationalization of architectural practice across the planet during the 20th century.
