Robert Allen Zimmerman aka Bob Dylan, hailing from a small mining town in Minnesota, is regarded as one of the world’s greatest singer-songwriter. “Blowing in the wind”, perhaps his most popular number, is the anthem of America’s youth revolt, inspired from the old African-American spiritual “No more auction block” is filled with rhetoric and ambiguities and the lyrics identify a combination of alienation as well as outrage to authoritarianism. A Nobel laureate in literature, who never claimed himself a political singer but wrote to speak and to spread the message of the people, became the reluctant spokesman of the youth awakening.
